Investigating Seasonal Variability in Sediment Grain Size
Research performed under Dr. Peter Adams and the Coastal Morphology lab in the department of Geological Sciences at the University of Florida.
Project began Spring 2024.

Project focus
Investigating how spatial and temporal patterns of sediment grain sizes relate to seasonal aeolian recovery.
Responsibilities
My work will is focused on collecting and analyzing sediments from the Matanzas Inlet to investigate movements of sediments seasonally into dunes through aeolian transport. We divide the coast into the traditional segments of Frontal dune crest, frontal dune toe, berm, and swash for sampling. These samples will be collected seasonally, with a collection in November 2023, February 2024, May 2024, and August 2024 planned. During these field excursions we collect sediment samples from Florida Department of Environmental Protection Coastal range markers ranging from RM156 to RM196A to track the alongshore and cross shore movement of sediments across the beach.
